Coexistence lets you keep using the WhatsApp Business app on your phone and connect the same number to GoChat through the WhatsApp Cloud API at the same time. You may also see it called WhatsApp Business QR connection or WhatsApp Business app connection.
Before you start
Check these requirements:
- WhatsApp Business app: the number has to be on the WhatsApp Business app, not on the standard WhatsApp Messenger.
- Latest version: update the WhatsApp Business app from the official app store.
- Meta Business Manager: you need an active Meta Business Manager account.
- Compliance: the country code of the number and your business type must comply with the WhatsApp Business and Commerce Policies.
How to connect
- Go to WhatsApp Cloud and click Connect WhatsApp Cloud.
- Choose your Business Manager and select the connection type Connect the WhatsApp Business App.
- Enter the phone number you use in the WhatsApp Business app. A verification code arrives inside the WhatsApp Business app.
- Scan the QR code or enter the code. You receive both messages on your WhatsApp.
- In the app, tap Connect to the Business Platform to continue.
- Tap Confirm in the app. This is where you choose whether to share your chat history.
- Scan the QR code or paste the verification code.
The connection is complete. To finish, add your payment method and link the number to your bot.
If you already have a number on the Cloud API
You can add a Coexistence number next to a number that is already connected. Connect the new WhatsApp Business app number with the steps above and both numbers show up in your dashboard. No extra setup is needed.
One number per WhatsApp Business Account
A WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) created through Coexistence supports a single phone number. This comes from the WhatsApp Business app model, where one number is one business. If you try to add a second number to that account, you get this error:
Cannot add phone number to WhatsApp Business Account
That is expected. You have two options:
- Create a new WABA with the standard sign up. If you need several numbers managed from GoChat, connect a new account with the regular flow described in Set up a new phone from zero. That account supports multiple numbers.
- Keep Coexistence for your first number and create a separate WABA for the rest. Your original number keeps working in the app and in GoChat, and the other numbers go to a standard account.
Coexistence or migration
With Coexistence the number keeps working in the WhatsApp Business app while it is connected to GoChat. If you prefer to move the number to GoChat completely, follow Set up if you want to migrate from another platform.
