The Facebook Ads Payload and Facebook Ads Message tools connect your Messenger ads to your bot. They show up in Tools only in bots with a Facebook channel or in omnichannel bots.
Before you start, check that these are connected:
- Your Facebook Page, in the bot.
- Your Facebook Ads account and your Facebook Business Manager, in Integrations. See Integrations.
- All the pages have to be in the same Business Manager as the ad accounts.
Facebook Ads Payload
A payload tells an ad which sub-flow to start when the user clicks it.
- Go to Tools in the left-hand menu of your bot and open Facebook Ads Payload.
- Create a new payload and choose the sub-flow in Goto Subflow.
- Open the payload and copy it.
The list shows each payload with its Active status, Name and Goto Subflow. You can add up to nine UTM parameters to a payload to save the source of the traffic in user fields.
To use it in an ad, in Facebook Ads Manager create a campaign with Messenger as the destination. In the message template choose Partner App, then Select Flow or Enter JSON Code, and paste the payload.
Facebook Ads Message
Facebook Ads Message holds the welcome messages that your ads show when they open Messenger or Instagram.
- Go to Tools and open Facebook Ads Message.
- Create a message: give it a name, choose the channel (Messenger or Instagram) and the type: Text (with buttons and quick replies), Video, Image or Card.
- Save it and click Sync to send it to Facebook.
The list shows the Message, Id, Name, Channel and whether it Is used in ad.
To use it, in Facebook Ads Manager go to the ad, open Messaging Template, choose Partner App and then Select Flow, and pick your message. To make a button of the welcome message start a sub-flow, paste a Facebook Ads Payload in the button, save and click Sync again.
